- Hyperactivity
- Basic Obedience
I am a Certified Dog Trainer (CDT) and work with all breeds. I use a pain free, fear free, science proven, positive behavioral approach that teaches owners to understand their dogs and in turn be able to successfully communicate with them.
About Me
I have been working professionally with dogs since 2009, and in that time have worked with hundreds of dogs. I have worked with intense reactivity, crippling fear and everything in between. I use a science based behavioral approach that is both fast and effective in changing a dog's behavior. I believe our dogs do best when we set them up for success! My methods are fun for both human and dog, and I don't use any methods that will cause pain or fear in your dog. You can expect to see a noticeable difference after one session.
I am a Certified Dog Trainer and Professional Member of the APDT(Association of Professional Dog Trainers). It is an organization established to maintain the highest professional and business standards among canine professionals. https://apdt.com/about
I am also certified by the AKC (American Kennel Club) to administer the Canine Good Citizen Test.
Along with my dog behavior career, I also volunteer with many rescues and shelters to help them assess and place dogs in permanent and temporary foster homes. My family has also enjoyed the experience of fostering dozens of dogs in the last few years. Each one has taught me something new about canine behavior and the gifts dogs have to offer humans.
I have three fulltime pack members who are a wonderful addition to the family. Dolly, my independent and intelligent Border Collie. Milly, my big, snuggly, kid-loving Pitbull mix. And George, who is a calm little Chi-Wiener who often helps me on my dog calls.
I feel very fortunate to be able to do what I love and have so much success helping humans and their dogs speak the same language.

Canine Good Citizen Test
What is the Canine Good Citizen Test?
The Canine Good Citizen Program is a two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. Read more on the AKC site here.
I am an evaluator for the AKC CGC test. If you would like to achieve this great accomplishment with your dog, here is what you need to know.
I offer a 6-session training package that will help you and your dog learn all 10 parts of the test. The actual test will be given on the final session. If you feel your dog is ready for the test and just need an evaluation, I can do that too.
6-session training package
Price: $200
Test evaluation
Price: $40
*Dogs with extreme behavior issues such as aggression or reactivity are not ready to start CGC training. This does not mean your dog can't become a CGC dog. It just means that before training for the test your dog would benefit from a behavior training package. I would be happy to work on behavior and then proceed to testing.
Testimonials
Thanks to Julie and her belief in Chevy, our crazy, manner-less, 109 pound German Shepherd, he is now in the final stages of his training to test for his Canine Good Citizen certificate. Chevy came to us with no leash skills and no social skills. With Julie's positive reinforcement training methods, Chevy is now able to participate in all our family activities and has finally learned how to meet new dogs. Thanks, Julie, for transforming Chevy into a loving, happy dog, and giving us the tools and encouragement to help him become a great pet.- Janel P. (Client)
If you have ever found yourself at your wits end, or even embarrassed by your dog's behavior, fret no more! Julie Anderson from Bad Behavior/Good dog can help you and your dog have a better and stronger relationship through insightful training and behavior tips. I have seen her in action. Julie only uses positive reinforcement techniques and she is intuitive. She knows what the dog needs and in turn, what we as the human needs to do to help the dog behave. Her techniques are simple to use and almost instantaneous in the results.
Julie has helped several of our clients (Camp Bow Wow) that have had dogs with specific behavior problems and with practice and consistent reinforcement, these dogs are much more balanced and happy. When we are asked to refer to a trainer, Julie Anderson is always our first choice.- Beth P. (Owner of Camp Bow Wow)
One evening while walking in the foothills with Tinly, my then 1 year old Tibetan Terrier, I met a man with 2 lovely dogs. His dogs were listening to him. Mine was not!!!! Sensing my frustration he very kindly said that he had worked with a woman who helped him a lot with training his dogs. I eagerly took the name. That is how I met Julie. Our first visits with Julie were around the basics of eating, walking, off, barking, get off the table!!! etc. Her approach from the moment she walked in the door was amazing. She has a soft, deliberate, knowing style that communicated so clearly to Tinly AND the humans!! In 3 sessions we made notable progress in areas that seemed hopeless.
If you have the good fortune to work with Julie Anderson you will undoubtedly become aware of new aspects of your relationship with your dog. And is always the case learn about your self and your ability to contribute in a more positive way to your dog's life.- Mary D. (Client)
We have a 19 month old 50% Border Collie mix. To say she has a lot of energy is an under statement. We got her through the IDAPI Program at the Humane Society. She had some training but came with some behavior issues. A person who volunteers at this program recommended Julie of Bad Behavior/Good dog. We retained Julie to help us with the issues our dog has. We will tell you it was one of the best decision we have made on dog training. With past dogs we tried other training but nothing was as good as what Julie does or works as well. You have her one on one and she really knows and shows you what to do in a very professional and positive manner. The bottom line is she is AWESOME! We would highly recommend Julie.- Ray and Eileen H. (Client)
